Meet Ms. Lovely

My journey begins several years ago with a bad experience. One day I looked at my hair and decided to go all natural. I stopped going to the beauty salon to get my hair relaxed and dyed. After some time, my hair began to look so long thick and seemed to flourish. I have become very curious to find out what my hair would look like straight. I went to a beauty salon and decided to get a perm, after some time of going all nature it appeared to have turned out to be so beautiful; Needless to say, I was very happy with the results.

After some time passed my hair seemed to take a turn for the worst. The beautician was inexperienced and started to leave the perm treatment in my hair for too long and my hair began to break off and thin at the crown of my head. After some time, I became devastated in losing my beautiful hair. I immediately turned to researching and looking for information on natural ways to restore my hair back to the Lovely Look I had previously achieved. I realized that using perms and dyes were not the way to go to obtaining and keeping long healthy hair growth; especially for aging women such as myself. I realized that going natural gave me better results than using chemicals and dyes to cover up what was lacking.

During my research and learning new ways achieve a natural approach to my hair.  I developed my first hair oil that was tailored to help restore my hair back to the previous impressive look. I never imagined that the product that I made for my hair would be loved by anyone else and that they claimed it worked on his hair as well. After some time passed and during more research and study, I began to develop more products for my hair.

My second bad experience was the same old problem that I always had with my skin since I was a teenager. I would get flare ups with eczema on my skin, my affected areas have always been around my neck and at the joints of my arms and legs. Again, I took to the web to research natural ways to help my skin heal from eczema. Once again, I developed a body butter that is tailored to help resolve my skin issues. Through several trails and errors, I formed a body butter that I enjoyed so much I could not find myself using anything else.

Eventually my daughter started to take notice of what I was doing in making my own hair and skin products. She began to give my hair oils and body butter a try, she liked it so much that she started to tell people at her job that I knew how to make natural products for their hair and skin. I made a few products for the request of my daughter and received amazing feedback from those that tried my product. That is when the time came for me to decide to expand and start my own business in making my own hair and skin products; handmade from organic and botanical ingredients to sell to the general public.

Developing Ideas for Making My Products

I like to give everyone a little history of myself first before introducing my amazing products. I received an associate degree in applied science in respiratory therapy in May of 2008. I became interested in this field of study because in 1999 I gave birth to premature twins who were very sick with underdeveloped lungs. It was a good idea for me at the time to pursue this career path because of my own personnel experience of taking care of my twins who were suffering from breathing problems such as asthma and other health issues. I was satisfied with this achievement for only a moment, I wanted to achieve more by doing something I really and truly loved. I always had a talent for cooking and baking, so in June of 2013 I received another associate degree of applied science in culinary arts and again March of 2014. I received my degree in baking and pastry.

Receiving the two degrees had truly made my dreams of becoming a chef come to fruition. I began working for a well-known University and thoroughly enjoyed what I loved best, and that was cooking and creating wonderful meals. While working at what I enjoyed most, I never imagined that life would take me on yet another different path.

I began making my own skin and hair products for myself and noticed the difference in using my own products made for my skin and hair. I became very interested in what it truly means by using organic products that are best for the human body and the environment. I was always a big believer that taking care of the mind, body, and spirit in the ways of natural remedies, and using organic supplements and most importantly eating the right foods to sustain the body to its best ability.

With the knowledge I had received from obtaining my degrees in the field of health and in cooking I began to marry the two of them to form what I like to call “Lovely Organics”. I create my products in the mindset of using the best ingredients such as organic and botanical I can find to produce my hair and skin products. I do not claim that my products will make you to look 10 or 20 years younger or that my hair oils will grow your hair all the way down to your midback. I do however want to offer my products to everyone that aide in obtaining and maintaining healthier skin and hair. I do not want to use many types of fillers, preservatives, synthetics, and dyes in my products. Instead I want to create my products in fresh small batches and as made to order, as they do in certain upscale restaurants. I believe this is what makes a good chef great at what they do. I want to take this same concept into what I want to put into making my handmade products. The end result will be that the customer is receiving a product that is potent and fresh. This is idea to obtaining the type of skin and hair you want for yourself. In the cooking field we have a saying: “that fresh is best”. With that concept in mind that is what goes into the making of my products.
